3 Must-Try LGBTQ+ Coffee Shops in LA

While Pride month is a time for us all to reflect on the progress made to date and continued fight towards LGBTQ equality, it is also a great time to stand in solidarity with the community by supporting some of our favorite LGBTQ+ owned coffee shops in Los Angeles. Here are three you must try!

Bloom & Plume

Located in the heart of LA, just north of Downtown, Bloom & Plume has been blessing the local community with a space that not only serves up delicious coffee and food but also a collaborative environment that encourages artistic freedom. Every inch of this Black and LGBTQ-owned business was thoughtfully designed by co-owned Maurice Harris, an amazingly talented florist and artist, to provide a unique yet inclusive space for everyone.

When it comes to coffee, there is no shortage of creativity here. Enjoy all the usual suspects or indulge in one of their seasonal creations like their Pistachio Cardamom Rose Latte or Blood-Orange and Cayenne-infused cold brew. While they aren’t roasting their own coffee, they are sourcing beans from Black & White Roasters another black-owned coffee company from North Carolina who happens to be one of our favorite coffee roasters in the world.

Address: 1638 W Temple St, Los Angeles, CA 90026

Equator Coffees

Equator Coffees brought another splash of color to the vibrant LA coffee scene when they opened their Culver City coffee shop earlier this year. While Equator has been a proven force in the specialty coffee world for decades, this is the first of what we hope will be many locations in sunny SoCal where they already have a devoted following. This Women and LGBTQ-owned coffee company was started in 1995 with a laser focus of improving people’s lives through coffee. As the operation continues to grow, they have stayed true to this mission every step of the way!

The team at Equator sources some of the best specialty coffees from around the globe with a specific focus on sustainability throughout the supply chain and supports programs that enhance growing communities. They are also the first coffee roaster in California to become a Certified B Corporation, a further badge recognizing their steadfast commitment to sustainability!

Their Culver City café takes inspiration from Southern California topography with a stunning minimalistic space that incorporates splashes of their signature red hue. Further submersed into the local community, they have a few unique offerings at this location inspired by celebrated LA chefs like the cafe de olla latte which is an absolute must try for anyone who visits.

We have admired Equator Coffees for years are lucky to have them as a partner with Bruvi! We’re looking forward to launching  Equator Blend B-Pods® soon.

Address: 8900 Venice Blvd. #105, Culver City, CA 90232

Liberation Coffee House

Last but certainly not least is Liberation Coffee House which not only serves up awesome coffee and food but is really making a difference for the local LGBTQ community. This Hollywood café and community space is run by graduates from the Center’s Culinary Arts program, which prepares LGBTQ youth and seniors from the Center for employment in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Feel good supporting this business as revenue from the café is also reinvested into the Center’s life-changing programs and services.

The shop itself is light and bright with plenty of room to work or conversate with others and easy parking (bonus!). When it comes to coffee, they are using a tried-and-true roaster in Verve with a well-rounded menu that will satisfy any coffee lover. Sit down, grab a coffee and some food at this great Los Angeles café and know that your dollars here really are making an impact in the LGBTQ community!
