Coffee and candy canes

What You Should Drink While Watching Your Favorite Holiday Movie

If you need some inspiration as you dream up your next holiday movie night by the fireplace, here are some of our favorites and naturally, what at home coffee beverages we enjoy watching them with, from matcha lattes to something stronger like espresso martinis and much more.

Elf & Candy Cane Mocha

This is one of my favorite Will Ferrell movies of all time and certainly has become a cult classic, increasing in popularity each year. Buddy is an elf that just doesn’t quite fit in at the North Pole so he decides to spread Christmas cheer as he travels to NYC to find his father. It only seems fitting that you grab a candy cane mocha while watching this hilarious Christmas movie.

The Grinch & Matcha Latte

With three versions to choose from including the original, live-action, and a recently reimagined animated version, might I suggest a Grinch marathon? Personally, I think the live-action version with Jim Carey takes the cake but there is a lot to love about each. While it’s not coffee, a warm green drink like a matcha latte feels like the perfect pairing with this story of Christmas spirit.

Frosty the Snowman & White Chocolate Affogato

This 1969 animated classic is a must-watch every holiday season. This is the story of a snowman (Frosty) who is brought to life by a magic top hat and the journey he must take with his friends to the North Pole to make sure he doesn’t melt. A short and cute holiday film that goes perfectly with a white chocolate affogato – ice cream, espresso and a white chocolate drizzle.

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer & Peppermint Latte

Rudolph is the most famous reindeer for a reason. While his differences make him a bit of an outcast, he searches to find a place where he fits in and ultimately finds that what makes him special might save Christmas. A simple peppermint latte makes this movie that much better.

The Polar Express & Hot Chocolate Mocha

Book turned movie, Polar Express is a holiday film with a great story about the power of believing. When a boy embarks on a train ride to the North Pole he is forced to reconsider his doubt in the existence of Santa Claus. Since hot chocolate is served in the movie, it’s only fair to do an adult spin on a favorite winter drink by adding a double shot espresso. Don’t forget the mini marshmallows!

Home Alone & Eggnog Latte

I love the Home Alone franchise, and nothing hits quite like the original. Preparing for a Christmas vacation in Europe a family accidentally forgets their young son who has quite the adventure while they are away. A classic holiday comedy deserves a seasonal take on the classic latte, try replacing the steamed milk with steamed eggnog, yum!

The Holiday & Gingerbread Latte

This beloved rom-com tells the story of unexpected love during the holidays. This is a must-watch for any girl’s night this season and while the storyline is somewhat predictable, it continues to gain fans since it was released 15 years ago. Gingerbread is a quintessential holiday flavor and one that happens to pair well with gourmet coffee, so give a Gingerbread latte a try with this movie!

Love Actually & Espresso Martini

Finishing off the list with another rom-com that is packed with A-list stars. The movie takes place during the holidays and follows several intertwined stories about love. A true fan favorite that deserves a pairing with the most popular adult coffee beverage, the espressotini.
