What To Do On National Coffee Day
If you need another reason to celebrate the delicious nectar of the gods that we call coffee, September 29th, 2021, is National Coffee Day. Each year in late September, we are blessed with a dedicated holiday to cherish our beloved cup of joe and everything related to it.
Here are some ways you can celebrate this National Coffee Day!
1. Take a (Extra) Coffee Break
Stepping away from your work or day’s tasks is always a good idea, but on National Coffee Day you have another excuse to do so. If you work in an office, consider encouraging a team coffee break, or better yet, see if your employer will flip the bill for a fun coffee event. They might just surprise you and approve the request!
2. Grab a Freebie
Humans are wired to love free things, and if you do your research, you can score some free items on National Coffee Day. Local coffee shop, cafes, donut shops and even convenience stores might be handing out free or heavily discounted coffee on this day. I recommend doing a simple online search or looking on social media to find where you can snag your free coffee. You can even plan out your day with stops at each of the best spots.
3. Host a Coffee Tasting
Another fun way to celebrate coffee is by hosting a coffee tasting or cupping party. This is a great way to celebrate the day and have some fun with friends. If everyone brings a bag of their favorite specialty coffee, you can try them all and see how they rank. It’s interesting and sometimes even hilarious to compare tasting notes!
4. Try a New Drink
National Coffee Day is a great excuse to break out of your normal coffee routine. Go out of your comfort zone and try something different. If you are usually a latte person, give a cold brew a try. If you drink your coffee with cream and sugar, try a black single-origin coffee to experience all the flavor and nuance of that coffee in its rightful glory.
5. Give a Coffee-Themed Gift
If you have a coffee lover in your life, this is a great excuse to surprise them with a special gift. From mugs, to coffee, to gear, you can’t go wrong here. There is no such thing as a bad gift and just the thought will certainly bring a smile to their face.
6. Experiment with a New Brewing Method
Give your drip coffee maker a break on National Coffee Day. Consider trying a new brew method. Pour Over, French Press, Cold Brew and Moka Pot are some options that are on my short list. Have a little fun, heck even try a few since you do have an excuse to drink a little more coffee than usual this day.
7. Make a Coffee Syrup
Jazz things up on this special day! Consider making a homemade syrup and spicing up your morning routine. Since Fall has officially begun, you might even consider making a Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) or another holiday coffee favorite.
